BIG NOISE - In THE MAKING
This project was a joint undertaking with a group of architectural students called ‘In The Making’ and run under the business - Building Together CIC - to provide design and build workshops for and with select children from the Big Noise project at Govanhill within the back yard of their rented facilities.
Building Together CIC facilitated the design and build of projects for communities, using volunteers and interns to teach sustainable building materials and methods of construction, resulting in a building or structure that gives back to its environment; empowering, enriching, and inspiring the lives of the local community.
In the Making are a group of designers and makers who met at Glasgow’s Mackintosh School of Architecture, who investigate and document self-build and co-design that empowers local communities.
The project at Big Noise, Govanhill consisted of three weeks of design and build workshops with selected children from Big Noise, working with them to create an outdoor space that was usable, bright, and personalised to their space.
